Background Images Do Not Scroll on iOS and iPadOS Devices
If you've noticed that background images with a scrolling or parallax effect remain fixed on iPhones or iPads, this is expected behaviour on iOS and iPadOS.
Apple intentionally disables scrolling background images on its mobile devices to improve performance, battery life, and the overall user experience. This is a limitation built into the operating system itself and is not caused by Hipposerve® Studio.
Why does this happen?
Background image scrolling (sometimes referred to as a parallax effect) requires additional graphics processing. On iOS and iPadOS, Apple restricts this functionality within the Safari browser and all browsers that use Apple's rendering engine.
Because this restriction is enforced by the operating system, Hipposerve® Studio cannot override or bypass it.
Which devices are affected?
This behaviour only affects Apple devices running iOS or iPadOS.
Background image scrolling will continue to work normally on:
- Android phones and tablets
- Windows PCs
- macOS computers
- Most other desktop browsers
