How to Use the Hipposerve® Studio YouTube Widget

The YouTube widget allows you to quickly embed YouTube videos directly onto your website. It's ideal for tutorials, product demonstrations, promotional videos, customer testimonials and much more.

Embedding videos from YouTube keeps your website fast, as the video is streamed directly from YouTube rather than stored on your own website.

Tip: The YouTube widget supports both standard YouTube videos and YouTube Shorts.

Adding a YouTube Video

Adding a YouTube video to your page only takes a few moments.

  1. Drag and drop the Media widget onto your page.
  2. Select a YouTube composition.
  3. In the right-hand toolbar, enter the YouTube URL or Video ID.

Your video will automatically appear on the page once a valid YouTube link or video ID has been entered.

Recommended: Copy the full YouTube URL directly from your browser to avoid entering an incorrect video ID.

Customising Your Video

The YouTube widget includes several options to control how your embedded video behaves.

Video Size

Adjust the size of your embedded video using the controls in the right-hand toolbar.

You can also enable Allow to adjust size automatically so the video resizes automatically for different screen sizes.

Tip: Automatic sizing helps ensure your videos look great on desktops, tablets and mobile devices.

Player Options

You can choose whether to:

  • Display the standard YouTube player controls.
  • Use the YouTube nocookie domain for enhanced visitor privacy.

Start Time

If you want viewers to begin watching from a specific point in the video, simply enter the desired start time in the right-hand toolbar.

This is particularly useful for linking directly to an important section of a longer video.

Note: The start time only affects where playback begins. Visitors can still rewind or watch the entire video using the player controls if they are enabled.

Best Practices

  • Use high-quality YouTube videos to give your website a professional appearance.
  • Enable automatic sizing to improve the experience on mobile devices.
  • Use the nocookie option if you wish to improve visitor privacy.
  • Set a start time when linking to a specific part of a longer video.
  • Remember that both standard YouTube videos and YouTube Shorts are fully supported.
