Using the Gallery Slideshow Widget in Hipposerve® Studio

The Gallery Slideshow widget allows you to display images and videos as an animated slideshow. This is an excellent way to showcase products, portfolios, featured content, events or promotional material while keeping your page visually engaging.

Slideshows automatically rotate through your media and can be customised with captions, transitions, timing controls and lightbox viewing options.

Adding a Slideshow Gallery

To add a Gallery Slideshow widget to your website:

  1. Drag and drop the Gallery widget from the main toolbar.
  2. Select the Slideshow Gallery layout.
  3. Select the gallery and click the picture editing icon () in the right-hand toolbar.
  4. Click Add Pictures to upload your images.
  5. Click Size in the right-hand toolbar.
  6. Set a gallery size manually or enable Allow to adjust size automatically.
Tip: Automatic sizing helps your slideshow display correctly across desktop, tablet and mobile devices.

Managing Gallery Media

You can add additional information to each slide within your gallery.

To edit slideshow images:

  1. Select the gallery.
  2. Click the pictures icon () in the right-hand toolbar.
  3. Add or edit image titles, links, addresses and descriptions.
Tip: Titles and descriptions can provide useful context and improve visitor engagement.

Display Options

Disable Image Enlargement

Enable this option if you do not want images to enlarge when visitors click on them.

Background Settings

Select the gallery and click the background settings icon in the right-hand toolbar to customise background colour and opacity.

Image Filling

Choose how images fit within the slideshow area:

  • Fit: Displays the entire image within the available space.
  • Fill: Expands the image to completely fill the slideshow area.
Note: The Fill option may crop portions of an image to maintain the display area.

Thumbnail Borders

If thumbnails are displayed, you can customise their borders.

Click the thumbnail border settings to configure:

  • Border width
  • Border colour
  • Border style

Slideshow Settings

You can control how the slideshow behaves.

Available slideshow settings include:

  • Picture change frequency
  • Transition duration
  • Animation timing
  • Slide progression behaviour
Tip: Longer transition times can create a smoother viewing experience, while shorter timings can create a more dynamic presentation.

Captions and Descriptions

The Gallery Slideshow widget supports captions and image descriptions.

You can customise:

  • Caption visibility
  • Caption background colour
  • Text styling and formatting

To include image descriptions:

  1. Add a description for each image inside the Gallery Media Manager.
  2. Click Apply.
  3. Open the Caption section in the right-hand toolbar.
  4. Enable Include Description.
Tip: Descriptions are useful for storytelling, product showcases and portfolio presentations.

Lightbox Settings

When visitors open an image, it can be displayed inside a lightbox overlay.

You can customise the background colour shown behind enlarged images when viewed.

Note: Darker lightbox backgrounds often provide a more immersive viewing experience.

Video Support

The Gallery Slideshow widget also supports video uploads, allowing you to combine images and videos within the same slideshow.

This makes it ideal for product demonstrations, promotional content and multimedia presentations.

Tip: Combining images and videos can create a more engaging experience and help keep visitors on your website for longer.

A slideshow gallery automatically cycles through images and videos, creating an attractive and interactive presentation for your visitors.
