Adding Languages in Hipposerve® Studio

Hipposerve® Studio allows you to create multilingual websites by adding a language selector to your site. This is useful if you want visitors to view your website content in more than one language.

Each language version can have its own text, menus, images and page content, giving you control over how your website appears to different audiences.

How to Add Languages

To add languages to your website:

  1. Drag and drop the Languages element from the main toolbar onto your page.
  2. Choose the language style or customisation option you would like to use.
  3. In the popup window, click Add language.
  4. Select the languages you need.
  5. Click Apply to add them to your website.
Tip: The language element normally appears as a small language switcher, often using flags or language labels, so visitors can choose the version of the website they want to view.

Editing Language Content

Once languages have been added, you can edit each language version separately.

To edit language content:

  1. Click the language flag or language option you want to edit, such as English.
  2. Edit the page content for that language, including text, menus, images and other elements.
  3. Select another language, such as Chinese, and edit that version in the same way.
Note: The default language is shown with a star icon next to it. There can only be one default language, and it cannot be removed simply by clicking the delete icon beside it.

Deleting Languages

You can remove individual languages from your website if they are no longer needed.

To delete a language:

  1. Select the Languages element inside the website builder.
  2. On the right-hand Languages toolbar, hover over the language you want to remove.
  3. Click the cross icon that appears beside that language.

To remove all languages completely:

  1. Select the language item inside Page Structure.
  2. Press Delete on your keyboard.
  3. Select Delete all languages and all language items.
Important: If languages are only removed from the visible website content, they may be hidden rather than fully deleted. To completely remove all language items, delete them from the page structure.

Translating Your Website Content

Translations need to be added manually for each language version of your website. This means you remain in control of the wording and layout for each audience.

Tip: You can also use the AI Chatbot inside the website builder to help translate text without leaving Hipposerve® Studio.
