Using the Gallery Map Widget in Hipposerve® Studio

The Gallery Map widget allows you to display images on an interactive map, making it ideal for travel blogs, photography portfolios, property listings, event locations and any content that has a geographical connection.

Images can be linked to map locations, allowing visitors to explore your content visually and geographically at the same time.

Adding a Gallery Map

To add a Gallery Map widget to your website:

  1. Drag and drop the Gallery widget from the main toolbar.
  2. Select the Map Gallery layout.
  3. Select the gallery and click the picture editing icon () in the right-hand toolbar.
  4. Click Add Pictures to upload your images.
  5. Click Size in the right-hand toolbar.
  6. Set a gallery size manually or enable Allow to adjust size automatically.
Tip: Map galleries are particularly useful for travel photography, location-based businesses and showcasing places connected to your content.

Managing Gallery Images

You can add information to each image that appears on the map.

To edit gallery images:

  1. Click the pictures editing icon () in the right-hand toolbar.
  2. Add or edit image titles, links, addresses and descriptions.
Tip: Providing accurate location information helps visitors better understand where each image was taken or relates to.
Note: If an image contains GPS location data, the Gallery Map widget can automatically recognise and place the image on the map.

Google Maps Settings

The Gallery Map widget integrates with Google Maps and offers a range of customisation options.

You can configure:

  • Map Centre: Set the map location using coordinates, an address or by placing a marker.
  • API Key: Enter your Google Maps API key.
  • Zoom Level: Control how closely the map is displayed.
  • Map Theme: Choose the visual appearance of the map.
  • Map Type: Select between available map styles.
  • Marker Type: Customise how location markers appear.
  • Additional Options: Configure other available map settings.
Tip: Choosing an appropriate zoom level helps visitors quickly understand the locations shown on your map.

Captions and Descriptions

The Gallery Map widget supports captions and image descriptions.

You can customise:

  • Caption visibility
  • Caption background colour
  • Text styling and formatting

Captions can provide useful context, such as location names, descriptions, event details or additional information about each image.

Tip: Combining map locations with detailed captions can create a much richer experience for visitors exploring your content.
